Dream Farm

Our Story

Dream Farm

Dream Farm is a family-owned farm founded by Hiroya Sato and his wife Hiroko in 1975. Today this 100 % Ikkan Keiei (Integrated Farming System) farm is operated by both the first and the second-generation farmer, Haruhiko Sato, and his wife, Chiyoko. Mr. Sato’s business philosophy is “When we work towards our goal, hope and dream, our work is a joy and not a burden”. The name of Dream Farm comes from this vision. In 2008 Mr. Sato invested funds to build a new barn that is more efficient and comfortable for family members to take care of their beloved cattle. The barn and what occur there creates a stress-free happy home for the cattle. At Dream Farm everything is done properly. Cows are grazed on the farm’s own Italian ryegrass grown on the land that has been fertilized by the farm’s own manure and urine compost. The farm practices selected breeding to improve the bloodline. The farm grows its own rice for animal feed to help to stabilize the business. Mr. Sato has established a trusting relationship with a local butcher, Fujii Shoten that markets much of the farm’s meat in local and Tokyo Metropolitan City. About seventy percent of his cattle after the slaughter goes to Fujii Shoten. Fujii Shoten gives Mr. Sato feedback on his meat from his praiseful customers. Being able to know who enjoy his meat has become a strong motivation for Mr. Sato to take care of his cattle better every day and to produce the highest quality meat for consumers. The younger Sato’s 4-year-old daughter Sumire joins her father and mother in feeding and helps to take care of the cattle in the barn. She is learning from this early age the knowledge needed to become the next president of Dream Farm. Fifty-five of the cattle are cows and the remaining one hundred are comprised of bulls, heifers, bullocks and calves.
